Subaru WRX leads Supercars field through wet start to Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500

From the closing moments of the Repco Bathurst 1000 to a rain-soaked start on the Gold Coast, the Subaru WRX Shannons Safety Car has been at the centre of the action across back-to-back rounds of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.
At the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on Saturday 24 October, heavy rain and standing water forced Race 31 to start behind the Safety Car, with the WRX leading polesitter Broc Feeney and the field through the opening three laps before returning to pit lane on Lap 4 as conditions improved.
Saturday's wet start provided a fitting backdrop for the WRX, a nameplate forged in rallying, where changing surfaces, unpredictable weather and finding grip in challenging conditions are all part of the challenge.
That heritage continues in today's WRX, with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive fitted as standard across the WRX range. Renowned for its all-paw grip, low centre of gravity and balanced handling, the system remains a defining part of the WRX's character, making the conditions on the Gold Coast a timely reminder of the engineering that underpins the iconic performance model.
Head of Brand, Subaru Australia, Trent Whitechurch, said: "Our involvement with Supercars extends beyond having vehicles on track. It's about supporting one of Australia's premier motorsport categories and helping race weekends run safely and efficiently.
"Saturday's wet conditions provided a great example of that, with the WRX Shannons Safety Car playing its role in challenging conditions before the racing got underway."
The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 also marked the first round of the Repco Finals Series since Subaru became the official supply partner of safety, course and medical cars for the Repco Supercars Championship. Alongside the Safety Car, Subaru is the official supply partner of the full Shannons backed fleet, with WRX serving as Official Safety and Course Car, while the all-new Outback Wilderness is the Official Medical Vehicle. The expanded support fleet builds on Subaru's partnership with Supercars since 2024.
Together, the fleet of Subaru support vehicles plays a critical role throughout each race weekend, helping support officials, medical teams and operational crews to help ensure the championship runs smoothly.
Off the track, Subaru's electric performance was on show, with the all-new Trailseeker and Uncharted drawing attention from fans. Launched in Australia this year, the two newest additions to Subaru's line-up of three Sport Electric Vehicles (SEVs) were on display, with experience rides in the Trailseeker giving fans the chance to experience Subaru's thrilling all-electric performance first-hand.
From the WRX leading the Supercars field in challenging conditions to the all-electric performance of the brand's new SEVs, Subaru's performance story is moving forward, powered by the same commitment to confidence, control and capability. With Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive remaining at the core, the technology is evolving from Boxer engines to electric motors, carrying Subaru's performance spirit into an exciting new electrified era.
Chaz Mostert went on to claim victory in Race 31, securing his place in the Repco Finals Series & Penrite Oil Sandown 500 in Melbourne from 6 November, where the Subaru support fleet will next be on duty.
